- 98weeks research project is an artists organization founded by Marwa Arsanios and Mirene Arsanios on the 31st of October 2007. Since Nov 2009. it is also a project space located in the Mar Mkhael area of Beirut.
This manifesto, while promoting ideas through a particular rhetorical form, also appeals to physical reactions/ alterations provoked by the virus. Beyond argumentation, the ideas raised through the manifesto are suppose to infiltrate bodies. I somehow like the idea of an "independent" living organism. Rather than merging art with life (a strong desire in many avant-gardes), this makes us think that art can have a life of its own, in a way. Reading the editorial of Frieze magazine (march 2009), Carol Yingua concludes "...In truth, art has its own immune system, which is founded on genuine intellectual curiosity, artistic experimentation and..." Art is in fact, an active body I think.
